Brendan Carney’s central interest is to help people live with boundless energy, thriving health and complete happiness. Brendan is a Licensed acupuncturist (Lic. Ac) with a specialization in Japanese Acupuncture Styles (JAS). He is Certified by the National Certification Committee on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in both acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. He has studied the Kiiko Matsumoto style of acupuncture extensively with renowned acupuncturist David Euler. Additionally, he holds a degree in Exercise Science and has been a Nationally Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2001.

Brendan has experience treating people with musculo-skeletal conditions, such as back, neck or shoulder pain, and internal disorders, ranging from high blood pressure to colitis to various OB-GYN issues. After competing in sports all growing up and in college, I thought I would have instilled habits that could I take with me after I “retired”. Boy was I wrong…

When my Baseball career at UMass Amherst ended, I spent several years sporadically being “healthy” mentally and physically. 

I found myself doing the “right thing” for a month or so at a time and then sliding back into a comfortable routine of overeating and no physical activity. I always struggled with being consistent.

After years of dealing with anxiety and physical pain I decided to make a permanent change!

Let’s face it, we all need a friend, a coach, or an accountability partner in this life. Sometimes that involves encouragement. Sometimes it’s an uncomfortable conversation. But most importantly, I thoroughly enjoy helping people and seeing them put in the work to achieve their goals.

Because I know where I was, and where I am now, I want to help as many people as I can with their own journey!

There are always going to be obstacles along the way, but anyone can make a change. You’ll be so glad that you did.

My approach to Nutrition Coaching is very individual-based. I believe in meeting people where they are at and creating a plan together according to their goals. I have found that what works best for one person, might not be what’s going to work best for the next, so I look forward to working with clients to build new habits and be the structured accountability they might need! My goal is to help clients build new lifestyle habits that feel sustainable, to the point that someday soon they feel confident and comfortable on their own!
I am a certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, am a Level 2 CrossFit Trainer and have been doing CrossFit myself for almost a decade now. A former teacher, I started coaching part-time at The Port in 2017 and came on full-time at the end of 2019. That’s all just to say that I love working with people, staying active, and helping others find ways to feel their best and do the things they love too!
